My Mission
For 25 years it has been my mission to make the construction sector and the built environment safer.
My passion
Making organizations and projects in construction function more efficiently with safety.
My core value
`Safety connects, and connection leads to more safety.`
My slogan
`1 + 1 = 11` by connecting people and empowering them.
This is what I have done
Being able to switch between all these worlds and levels in various roles is my strength.
Developing and implementing easily applicable strategy and policy in the field of integrated safety energizes me.
I inspire, mobilize, and catalyze collaboration between people with a touch of humor. I operate strongest at the intersection of change and project management, organization, and safety. My studies and doctoral research support me. As a civil engineer from Delft and a PhD - specializing in safety in the design, realization, and management of buildings above tunnels - I am substantively involved.
Interim program manager, project manager, director/coordinator, project leader, process facilitator, strategic (policy) advisor, committee member, author, scientist, researcher, and speaker.
From the Board of Directors, management teams, executive boards, municipal councils to individual professionals and everything in between.
International, national, regional, urban, project, and object/asset level.
In all project phases of the construction process: project description, initiation, design stage, construction phase and demolition phase.
Ministries, provinces, executive organizations, municipalities, safety organizations, and construction companies.
Energy, urban development, construction, and infrastructure.

Colleagues describe me as a decisive personality with a sensitivity for collaboration within and between organizations on politically and administratively sensitive topics: empathetic, a get-things-done mentality, and entrepreneurial.
`Shahid, you just break it down.`
I sometimes hear other colleagues say about me as well.
